This birth. My goodness.
When this sweet mama asked me to be a part of her birth my heart just about exploded. There is nothing more intimate than birth, in my opinion. I love this girl like a sister and knowing that I’m being trusted to capture this experience isn’t something that I take lightly. You see, this sweet baby decided not to wait until the due date. We all know babies have their own agenda. I was packing my car to fly out to Salt Lake City and she said the baby is coming, today! With no hesitation and no plan for my flight I jumped on the highway to Hartsville. I was not going to miss this moment.
As soon as I got to the hospital I could just feel the excitement. They chose to make the gender a surprise and man was that a special moment to be a part of. This mama rocked it. She was even awarded the best c-section they’ve had award. The emotional strength and the pure love that goes into birthing a baby is beyond beautiful to witness. I’m never more aware of the presence of God than in a birth room.
Her birth room was calm. Her doctors were amazing. Her husband at one point asked if she wanted music and the doctor started singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. It was just happy. Her sweet babe made his appearance and was still partially in the amniotic sac and that was just amazing to see. The sweet nurse looked at me before hand and said I don’t have to worry about you passing out do I? I of course said no! Then was given a stool to stand on and goodness gracious look at this sweet face. Look at those cheeks. Chunky from second one!
I am in awe of the power of God every time I step foot in a delivery room. I am in awe of the power of a woman’s body every time I step foot in a delivery room. I am in awe of every woman that has given birth. I am in awe of you sweet Anna. I am in awe of the beauty of your sweet boy.
