    Dealing With Nausea During Pregnancy

Nausea is awesome, said no one ever!

Every pregnancy is different when it comes to nausea. Some expecting mamas might feel queasy off and on for a few hours, while others deal with all day nausea. Apparently there are a lucky 24% of you that don’t get nauseous at all. I’ve been doing a lot of reading on this subject so that I could share helpful tips and tricks to help alleviate nausea.

Let’s talk small meals. Adjusting your meals to smaller and more frequent has been said to help reduce nausea. Eating whole foods is beneficial but if a starchy carb is all you can handle, potatoes are a great choice. When you eat small frequent meals or snacks throughout the day you will also keep yourself from getting hungry which can cause nausea.

We’ve all heard that mornings can be the worst! Keep a pack of crackers on your nightstand and eat first thing, before you even get out of bed. Eating a protein before bed is beneficial too because it takes longer to digest.

Foods that may not sit so well in your stomach like spicy, fatty or heavy take longer to digest which could cause the nausea to stick around longer. Sticking to mild foods like mixing a protein with a carb may be more tolerable for your body.

Water is vital to life but especially during the entire pregnancy. Sipping throughout the day is easier on your stomach than chugging 8 oz at a time. Keeping water on your nightstand, in your car, at your desk at work or places that are convenient to your every day activities will help to remind you to grab it often.

I’ve read that some prenatal vitamins can affect queasiness so pay attention to your body. If after you take your prenatal you feel nausea then experimenting with a different vitamin might be the best option. You could also try taking before bed instead of in the morning to see if that changes your nausea.

Get moving! It may seem crazy but sometimes doing something different can help. Breathing in the fresh air and enjoying the sunshine can help take your mind off of how your feeling.

Essential oils are also a great tool to use when dealing with this not so fun feeling. Young Living is the only brand I suggest as they are the top of the line in quality and purity. A few options are 1-2 drops of DiGize on the belly, 1-2 drops of copaiba on the chest or a drop of peppermint in a glass of water. I have numerous testimonies of women I’ve helped by using essential oils.

Ginger teas are another great idea to help soothe the tummy. I’ve also read a lot of personal testimonies of women using sea bands.
